Sexual Identity

From the Catechism of the Catholic church:

No. 2333 Sexual identity. “Everyone, man and woman, should acknowledge and accept his sexual identity.”

The catholic church shows its patriarchal arrogance by its dated use of a male pronoun in the above quotation. Had the authors simply used an inclusive form (her/his or their), they could avoid such a glaring bias. As written, it remains exclusive and condescending.  Does the use of a masculine pronoun give clergy some sense of superiority? Are clergy really so stupid?              gmc, 2.9.2020
